| Home | Guide Service Guiding 08-09: I have 3 trained Field English Cocker Spaniels for guiding. They are close working flushing dogs. You usually have time to set up when hunting behind pointers. Flushers are a little more challenging for the serious sportsman. You have to watch the dogs work and be ready to shoot when they flush out the birds. This provides numerous excuses if you are a challenged shooter like me! Your enjoyment and friendly banter of the hunt is also greater. Guiding cost is $20 / hour, plus tip. Partial hours can be accomodated. Normal hunts are ½ day, 3 hours. All day hunts are available with a break for lunch. These rates are good for 1 – 4 hunters. A 20 bird or more bird hunt is an automatic $60 guide fee, plus tip. For the safety of the hunters and dogs, 4 hunters is the maximum. Trap session shooting can be accomodated before the hunt for a fee, if so desired. Guided hunting services are provided at local hunting Preserves where membership is held or open hunting is permitted. If you prefer hunting at another Preserve additional gas & time may be negotiated depending on the location. It is your choice. Hunting Preserves are typically available from October to April 1 for guided hunts. Safety: The maximum is 4 hunters / hunt. All hunters will wear Blaze Orange hats. It is strongly recommended to wear a Blaze Orange coat. We do not want good friends shot. The hunter is responsible for their actions with a weapon. All birds shot at must be flying. No ground swatting is allowed. All birds shot at must be above the horizon or over 6 feet off the ground. My dogs will jump up after a bird 6 foot high. Anyone calling “no shot, or don’t shoot, etc.” will be obeyed by all. The Guide has the right to stop a hunt immediately for safety reasons. Dogs: These are purebred, trained, field English Cocker Spaniels. I also breed them and sell pups all over the country to other guides, breeders, and the hunter who wants a high quality hunting and a house dog. A guided hunt will provide the opportunity to view the superior breeding quality of the parents in action. They are worth approximately $5000-6000 each. Remember the hunter is responsible for their actions with a weapon.
